Book Recs for Banned Books Week!

Image
September 22 - 28 is Banned Books Week ! While we celebrating reading here all year long, Banned Books Week is a special week dedicated to celebrating the freedom to read. It was launched in the 1980s when there was a particularly large amount of challenges and organized protests and the Island Trees School District v. Pico (1982) Supreme Court Case which ruled that school officials can't ban books in libraries simply because of their content. Books are still being challenged and banned to today so this week draws national attention to the harms of censorship every year.  To learn more about Banned Books Week, sign up for this free webinar  from the American Library Association Office For Intellectual Freedom or visit their website . If you are interested in reading one, take this quiz from Book Riot. For other recommendations, check out this list from Penguin Books . Happy reading!
