Book Recs for Hispanic Heritage Month!

September 15 - October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month!

This time is dedicated to celebrating the "generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society." It celebrates those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. It started as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Johnson in 1968 and was expanded by President Reagan in 1988 to a 30 day period. Why September 15th? It is the anniversary of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and 18.

These past few weeks and through October 15th, we've been sharing posts about some amazing folks of Hispanic descent on our Facebook and Instagram pages so be sure to check those out!

I hope you will take the time to read a book by a Hispanic author this month. Check out our suggestions below and for even more suggestions, check out these links:
Happy reading!
